A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION
DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO CONFIRM
CERTIFICATION OF THE CAMILLUS WORK PROGRAM,
A HANDS-ON JOB TRAINING PLACEMENT PROGRAM
FOR HOMELESS PERSONS IN MIAMI-DADE COUNTY,
LOCATED AT 726 NORTHEAST 1sT AVENUE, MIAMI,
FLORIDA, AS CONSISTENT WITH LOCAL PLANS AND
REGULATIONS, PURSUANT TO §212.08(5)(q),
§220.183 AND §624.5105, FLA. STAT. (2000);
FURTHER DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO ISSUE
AN OFFICIAL STATEMENT OF SUCH CERTIFICATION
ONCE SUCH STATUS HAS BEEN DETERMINED.
WHEREAS, the Camillus Work Program is a job training and
placement program for homeless adult- men in Miami. -Dade County,
Florida, providing hands-on work training in light construction,
landscaping, maintenance, and painting, as well as transitional
housing and supportive services; and
WIIFREAS, the Camillus Work Program is owned and operated by
Camillus
House,
Inc.
within its
existing emergency
services
facility
located
at
726 Northeast
13t Avenue, Miami,
Florida,
which i.s located within the Empowerment Gone; and
WHEREAS, the Camillus Work Program has been operating for
one and a half years and serves approximately 50 persons per
year; and

WHEREAS, pursuant to the State of Florida Community
Contribution Tax Incentive Program, authorized by §212. 08 (5) (q) ,
§220.18:3, and 9624.5105, Fla. Stat. (2000) , businesses that snake
qualifying contributions to Camillus House Inc., for the
Camillus Work Program can be granted credits against cer::a.in
State taxes; and
WHEREAS, for the Camillus Work Program to qualify for such
Tax Incentive Program, certification is requested by the Miami
City Commission that the Program is consistent with local plans
and regulations;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF TIE
CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained i.n the
Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and
incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The City Manager is directed to confirm
certification of the Camillus Work Program, a hands --on job
training placement program for homeless persons in Miami -Dade
County, located at 726 Northeast I"t Avenue, Miami, Florida, as
consistent with local plans and regulations, pursuant to
§212.08(5)(q), 9220.183, and §624.5105, Fla. Stat. (2000).

Section 3.
The
City
Manager is
directed to issue
an
official statement
of
such
certification
once such status
has
been determined.
Section
4.
This Resolution shall
become effective
immediately
upon
its adoption and signature of
the Mayor.11
