Funding is available from the Domestic Preparedness Equipment Support Program Grant, Account Code No. 142030.290529.6.840, BACKGROUND The City of Miami was awarded a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs. "This grant award is to procure specialized emergency response equipment, for the purpose of enhancing both the Fire and Police Department's basic defensive capabilities to respond to incidents of domestic terrorism involving the use of chemical or biological agents, radiological explosives and incendiary devices. The purchase of the RTR-4N Portable Digital X-ray Imaging System will provide the Bomb Detail of the Police Department with the capability to remotely acquire radiographic images of potentially life threatening improvised explosive devices in order to develop a disposal strategy and eliminate the threat. Use of this system eliminates the inconvenience of developing X-ray film and increases the safety of those charged with bomb disposal.
