Gim z of Traffic Law Enforcement City Mana ENCLOSURES: Motorcycles — Bid No 00 0) 702 RECOMMENDATION: It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution accepting the bid, and approving the lease of Traffic Law Enforcement Motorcycles from Ft. Lauderdale Harley Davidson, a non-minority/non-local vendor, located at 443 South State Road 7, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida 33317, as per terms and conditions of Bid No. 00-01-202, "'Lease of Traffic Law Enforcement Motorcycles", for a twenty-four (24) month period from effective date of lease, with the option to renew for two (2) additional one-year periods, at an annual cost not to exceed $39,900. Allocating funds therefore for the first year lease payment from Capital Improvement Program, "Replacement of City -Wide Fleet", Project No. 311850.429401.6.880, and subsequent years subject to the availability of funds. BACKGROUND: The Department of General Services Administration is recommending that Bid No. 00-01-202 be awarded to the only bidder, Ft. Lauderdale Harley Davidson. Twelve (12) Invitations for Bids were mailed and one (1) response was received. The Purchasing Department did a follow-up with several vendors to determine if re -bidding would be beneficial and based on their findings, decided to accept the single bid. Ft. Lauderdale Harley Davidson, a non-minority/non-local vendor, submitted the only responsive and responsible bid meeting specifications and is, therefore, recommended for the award. The new motorcycle -leasing contract shall be used to lease nineteen (19) brand new certified traffic law enforcement motorcycles for the Department of General Services Administration to be used by the Miami Police Department's Traffic Enforcement Unit. Motorcycles area cost effective vehicle that allows the enhanced maneuverability necessary for traffic enforcement, escort assignments, and special events.
