INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM
To The Honorable Mayor and Members

RECOMMENDATION:

SUBJECT. Downtown DRI Increment II
Contract Amendment 41
REFERENCES, Resolution 00-694
ENCLOSURES: Contract amendment
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution
authorizing the City Manager to allocate a maximum of $65,000 for costs associated with
Amendment 41 to the consultant contract between the Downtown Development
Authority ('*DDA") and the Curtis & Kimball Company, Inc. for the preparation of the
Increment II application of the Downtown Development of Regional Impact ("DRi"), and
directing the City Manager to transfer said funds to the DDA.
BACKGROUND:
On July 27, 2000, the City Commission allocated $30,000 for the preparation of the
Increment II application of the Downtown DRI and directed the transfer of said funds to
the DDA for the purpose of engaging professional consulting services to prepare the
application.
Subsequent to the original approval of the DRI in 1987, the DDA expanded north along
Biscayne Boulevard from NE 17 Street to NE 24 Street. In order for Increment II of the
DRI application to reflect these boundaries, additional consultant services and
amendment of the consultant contract are necessary. The fee for this additional work shall
not exceed $65,000; the amendment to the consultant contract is enclosed with this
memorandum. It is in the best interest of the City and DDA that the DRI boundaries
match the expanded DDA boundaries. Adoption of this Resolution would enable the DRI
application process to proceed reflecting accurately these boundaries.
