A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION
AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF FINANCE TO PAY TO
RONALD J. COHEN, P.A., ON BEHALF OF FORMER
POLICE OFFICER ANTHONY PROFITT, ATTORNEY FEES
AND COSTS, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED
$34,002.12, FOR REPRESENTATION IN THE CASE OF
GREGORY AND KAT}iLEF.N LANGSETT, U.S. DISTRICT
COURT CASE NO. 9'1 -3323 -CIV -GOLD; ALLOCATING
FUNDS FROM THE CITY OF MIAMI SELF-INSURANCE
TRUST FUND, INDEX CODE NO. 515001.624401.6.652.
HE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section The Director of Finance is authorized to pay
to Ronald J. Cohen, P.A., on behalf of former Police Officer
Anthony Profitt, attorney fees and costs, in an amount not to
exceed $34,002.12, for representation in the case of Gregory and
Kathleen Langsett, U.S. District Court Case No. 97 -3323 -CIV -GOLD,
with funds allocated from the City of Miami Self -Insurance Trust
Fund, Index Code No. 515001.624401.6.652.
Section 2. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor Y

The attached proposed Resolution seeks authorization for the payment of attorney fees
and costs to Ronald J. Cohen, P.A. for representation of former Police Officer Anthony Proffitt in
the case of Gregory Langsett and Kathleen Langsett vs. City of Miami, et al., U.S. District Court
Case No. 97 -3323 -CIV -GOLD. This is a false arrest and excessive use of force claim, all
emanating from Officer Proffitt's arrest of the Langsetts at a University of Miami football game
on November 23, 1996, at the Orange Bowl.
Funds in the amount of $34,002.12 are available from the Self -Insurance and Insurance
Trust Fund, Index Code No. 515001.624401.6.652.
