Home My WebLink AboutR-01-0681J-01-598 7/9/01 p RESOLUTION NO. 01— 681 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI C_TY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT A DONATION FROM THE FLORENCE :jI'1'7'HCUT' S INNER CITY CHILDREN'S TOURING DANCE COMPANY (THE "COMPANY"), SAID DONATION CONSISTING OF THREE GRANTS RECEIVED BY THE COMPANY FROM THE MIAMI-DADE COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF CULTURAL AFFAIRS, FOR THE CONSTRUCTION AND DEVELOPMENT OF A BLACK BOX THEATER AND DANCE/EXERCISE ROOM AT THE HADLEY PARK COMMUNITY CENTER (THE "FACILITY"); AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A MANAGEMENT AGREEMENT, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, WITH THE COMPANY FOR USE OF THE FACILITY; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, AS REQUIRED BY SAID GRANTS, TO ALLOCATE MATCHING FUNDS FROM THE SAFE NEIGHBORHOOD PARK BOND FUNDS APPROPRIATED FOR CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECT NO. 33141. WHEREAS, the City has commenced construction and development of the Hadley Park Community Center; and WHEREAS, the Florence Litthcut's Inner City Children's Touring Dance Company (the "Company") will be the primary user of the building's Slack Box Theater and Dance/Exercise Room (the "Facility"), under a management agreement with the City of Viaml; and cnT NESTING D' iiia 1 " ?001 �ti►c�iutiun Wv L01— 68a = M • WHEREAS, the Company has received three (3) Capital Development Grants from the Miami -Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, in the total amount of $97,500, and wishes to donate the funds to the City of Miami; and WHEREAS, said funds are to be used for the new Hadley Park Community Center to help pay for the necessary capital improvements and upgrade of the Black Box Theater and Dance/Exercise Room component of this project; and WHEREAS, the City of Miami is required to provide matching funds from the Safe Neighborhood Park Bond Funds; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is authorized to accept a donation, in the total amount of $97,500, from the Florence - Page 2 of 9 01- 681 0 0 Litthcut's Inner City Children's Touring Dance Company, said donation consisting of three (3) grants received by the Company from the Miami -Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs for the construction and development of a Black Box Theater and Dance/Exercise Room at the Facility. Section 3. The City Manager is authorizedll to enter into a management agreement, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, with the Company for use of the Facility. Section 4. The City Manager is authorized to allocate matching funds, in an amount not to exceed $97,500, as required by said grants, from the Safe Neighborhood Park Bond Funds appropriated for Capital Project: No. 33141. Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.' The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City. Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. ?� If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. This approximate $3.1 million project will include a cultural component consisting of a Black Box Theater and DanceiExercise Room to be used primarily by the non-profit group, Florence I.itthcut's Inner City Children's Touring Dance Company, under a management agreement with the City of Miami. The Dance Company has received three (3) Capital Development Grants from the Miami -Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs totalling $97,500. These funds will be matched by the City's Safe Neighborhood Parks Bond Program. Further, these funds ($97,500) shall be utilized towards the construction and development of the Hadley Park Community Center project, which the Dance Company is a major partner.
