FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF AN AFRICAN AMERICAN MEDICAL MUSEUM TO BE LOCATED ON THE CORNER OF NORTHWEST 12TH AVENUE AND NORTHWEST 62ND STREET, MIAMI, FLORIDA, FOR PURPOSES OF HOUSING DOCUMENTS, BOOKS, AND OTHER MEMORABILIA FROM PRIVATE PRACTITIONERS, HOSPITALS AND HISTORICALLY BLACK MEDICAL SCHOOLS; FURTHER DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO: (1) MEET WITH THE YAEGER FOUNDATION, INC. TO DISCUSS THE AFRICAN AMERICAN MEDICAL MUSEUM, (2) CONDUCT AN ENVIRONMENTAL AUDIT AND PRELIMINARY CLEAN-UP OF THE CITY -OWNED VACANT LOT LOCATED AT 1199 NORTHWEST 62" STREET, MIAMI, FLORIDA, (3) CONSIDER THE ACQUISITION OF THE VACANT LOT BY THE YEAGER FOUNDATION, INC. FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A PARKING LOT TO SERVICE THE PROPOSED MUSEUM BUILDING, (4) AND PRESENT A REPORT TO THE CITY COMMISSION WITHIN NINETY DAYS; ALLOCATING FUNDS, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $25,000, FOR THE PRELIMINARY CLEANUP AND ENVIRONMENTAL AUDIT FROM FUNDS ALLOCATED FOR THE WORD OF :FIFE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The City Manager ie directed to review the proposal presented by the Yaeger Foundation, Inc. for the Jul 1 0 2001 Rmahomw 01-- 651 construction of an African American Medical Museum to be located on the corner of Northwest 12th Avenue and Northwest 62" Street, Miami, Florida, for purposes of housing documents, books, and other memorabilia from private practitioners, hospitals and historically black medical schools. Section 2. The City Manager is further directed to: (1) meet with the -Yaeger Foundation, Inc. to discuss the African American Medical Museum, (2) conduct an environmental audit and preliminary clean-up of the City -owned vacant lot located at 1199 Northwest 62nd Street, Miami, Florida, (3) consider the acquisition of the vacant lot by the Yeager Foundation, Inc. for the construction of a parking lot to service the proposed Museum building, (9) and present a report to the City Commission within ninety days. Section 3. Funds, in an amount not to exceed $25,000, for the environmental audit and preliminary cleanup are allocated from funds allocated for the Word of Life Community Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor-!' PASSED AND ADOPTED this 10th day of July , 2001.
