A RESOLUTION OF THF MIAMI CITY COMMISSION CODESIGNATING SOUTHEAST 3 P AVENUE FROM SOUTHEAS^: 3"" STREET TO FLAGLER STREET, MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS-CARLOS GARDEL AVENUE", SUBJECT TO CERTAIN CONDITIONS; FURTHER DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS TO TRANSMIT A COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO THE HEREIN DESIGNATED OFFICES. WHEREAS, pursuant to City Commission directive, the Miami Street Codesignation Review Committee at its meeting of May 9, 2001, reviewed and recommended a proposal for the codesignation of Southeast 3rd Avenue from Southeast 3rd Street to Flagler Street, Miami, Florida, as "Carlos Gardel Avenue" to honor the musician held in the highest esteem by the citizens of the City of Miami, the Matin community, and worldwide; and WHEREAS, the City Commission affirms the recommendation of the Miami Street Codesignation Review Committee and wishes to honor Carlos Gardel; 4Q! 001�� OR JUN 2 5 2001 2"Ohown MW 01- 611 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. Southeast 3=d Avenue from Southeast 3rd Street to Flagler Street, Miami, Florida, is designated as "Carlve Gardel Avenue," subject to certain conditions as required by the Miami Street Codesignation Review Committee at its meeting of May 9, 2001. Section 3. The City Manager is directed to instruct the Director of Public Works to transmit a copy of this Resolution to the City of Miami Departments of Police, Fire -Rescue, General Services Administration and Solid Waste, the Miami -Dade County Department of Public Works and United States Postal Service. His music has endured the test of time since his passing in 1937. Tango music and dancing continues to permeate the lives of dancers and musicians to this day, enriching the heritage of our community.
