A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION CODESIGNATING SOUTHEAST 5TH STREET AT DRICKELL AVENUE, MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS %JUDGE MILTON A. FRIEDMAN WAY"; FURTHER DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO INSTRUCT THE DIREC'T'OR OF PUBLIC WORKS TO TRANSMIT A COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO THE HEREIN DESIGNATED OFFICES. WHEREAS, pursuant to City Commission directive, the Miami Street Codesignation Review Committee at its meeting of April 18, 2001, reviewed and recommended a proposal for the codesignation of Southeast 5'h Street at Brickell Avenue, Miami, Florida, as "Judge Milton A. Friedman Way" to honor a pioneer of the judicial court system and a visionary leader who worked to rehabilitate the alcohol addicted and eliminate social and racial discrimination; and WHEREAS, the City Commission affirms the recommendation of the Miami Street Codesignation Review Committee and wishes. to honor Judge Milton A. Friedman; and 4W QLiM - CW JUN 2 5 2001 SudW." f►1- 610 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. Southeast Sth Street at Briokell Avenue$ Miami, Florida, is designated as "Judge Milton A. Friedman." Section 3. The City Manager is directed to instruct the Director of Public Works to transmit a copy of this Resolution to the City of Miami Departments of Police, Fire -Rescue, General Services Administration and Solid Waste, the Miami -Dade County Department of Public Works and United States Postal Service. Section 4. Friedman Way" RACKG&O—UNO Judge Milton A. Friedman was a pioneer of the judicial courts in Miami and set precedents that created reforms throughout the United States. Ilia efforts brought a feeling of pride to those who knew him. His work to rehabilitate those suffering from alcohol addiction and his efforts to eliminate social and race separations are widely recognized. 01- 610
