WHEREAS, the City of Miami's Information Technology Strategic Plan (the "Plan") is complete and to be successfully executed the appropriate technology infrastructure must be in place to support the strategic initiatives as outlined in the Plan, such as Legislative Document Management System, Human Resources/Payroll Systems, Financial Systems, e -government systema, and more; and CITY COb x;awa or J'O N 1 4 2001 pi- 567 • WHEREAS, an essential component of this infrastructure is the acquisition and implementation of a highly available, high-performance, scalable, flexible, fully redundant, secure data storage .infrastructure; and WHEREAS, the data storage infrastructure will provide the City with a data storage platform that is cost-efficient, easy to administer, highly available, providing for efficient and effective data sharing and protection of the City's enterprise data assets and management and monitoring of the City's data needs from a centralized framework; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the Department of Information Technology recommend that the acquisition of mass storage hardware, associated software and peripherals, installation and maintenance services from various vendors, under existing State of Florida Contract Nos. 250-040-99-1, effective until June 30, 2001, and 250-050-97-1, effective until October 31, 2001, and any extensions, be approved; and WHEREAS, funds are available from Capital Improvement Project Nos. 311603 and 311610, as appropriated by the Annual Appropriations and Capital Improvement Projects Ordinances, as amended; Page 2 of 4 01— 567 • NOW, THEREFORE, DE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The acquisition of mass storage hardware, associated software and peripherals, installation and maintenance services from various vendors for the Department of information Technology, under existing State of Florida Contract Nos. 250-040-99-1, effective until June 30, 2001, and 250-050-97-1, effective until October 31, 2001, and any extensions, in an amount not to exceed $720,000, is approved, with funds allocated from Capital Improvement Project Nos. 311603 and 311610, as appropriated by the Annual. Appropriations and Capital Improvement Projects Ordinances, as amended. Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor Y '-� If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall bocome effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. if the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective iiamadiatoly upon override of the veto by the City Commission. Funds are available from CIP Project 311603 and CIP Project 311610. BACKGROUND: The City of Miami's Information Technology Strategic Plan is complete. In order for this plan to be successfully executed, the appropriate technology infrastructure must be in place to support the strategic initiatives as outlined in the plan; i.e.. Legislative Document Management System, Payroll/HR Systems, Financial Systems, e -government systems, etc. An integral component of this infrastructure is the acquisition and implementation of a highly available, high-performance, scalable, flexible, fully redundant, secure data storage infrastructure. This infrastructure is essential to supporting the mission -critical enterprise applications outlined in the Strategic Plan initiatives. Furthermore, this data storage infrastructure will provide the City with a cost-efficient, easy -to -administer highly available data storage platform providing for efficient and effective data sharing, protection of the City's enterprise data assets and management and monitoring of the City's ever-growing data needs from a centralized framework.
