WHEREAS pursuant to public notice, Invitation for Bids No. 00-01-154 for the project entitled "Citywide Sidewalk Replacement Project, Phase XVIII, B-463811, was mailed to thirty-three potential bidders; and WHEREAS, seven bids were received May 15, 2001; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the Department of Public Works recommend that the bid from Metro Express, Inc. be accepted as the lowest responsible and responsive bid; and WHEREAS, funds are available in the amount of $157,000 for the proposed amount of the contract, project expenses, and incidentals under Capital Improvement Project No. 341171, as CITY COKM OUM DII ETIMG OF. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The May 15, 2001 bid of Metro Express, Inc., in the proposed amount of $141,950 for the project entitled "Citywide Sidewalk Replacement Project, phase XVIII, B-4638" for the total bid of the proposal, based on lump sum and unit prices, is accepted at the price stated therein. Section 3. The total estimated project costs of $157,000 are allocated from Capital Improvement Project No. 341171, as appropriated by the Annual Appropriations and Capital Improvement Projects Ordinances, as amended. Total project costs consist of the $141,950 for contract costs and $15,050 for estimated expenses incurred by the City. Section 4. Any bid submitted after the above appointed time will not be accepted by the City Clerk. The project consists of the removal and replacement of approximately 55,500 square feet of concrete sidewalk with the removal of deteriorated, damaged, or unsafe concrete sidewalks and construction of new concrete sidewalks in locations citywide. The work will also include reinstallation of water meter boxes or similar utility structures located in the sidewalk area, curb and gutter construction, and trimming and removal of tree roots, as necessary, in order to prevent future damage to the new concrete sidewalk.
