HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-01-0534. • • J-01-428 5/21/01 RESOLUTION NO. 01- 534 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION DESIGNATING THE CIRCLE INTERSECTION AT ENSENADA AVENUE AND LA PLAYA BOULEVARD, MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS A PLAZA TO BE KNOWN AS "AMY BILLXG MEMORIAL PARK"; FURTHER DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO TRANSMIT A COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO THE, OFFICIALS DESIGNATED HEREIN. WHEREAS, the Coconut Grove community wishes to recognize an individual held in the highest esteem by her family and all who knew her in the City of Miami; and WHEREAS, Amy Billig was a young woman who earned a place in the hearts of many residents through her music and dedication to the community and the environment; and WHEREAS, pursuant to the City Commission's directive, the Miami Street Codesignation Review Committee, at its meeting of May 9, 2001, reviewed and recommended implementation of a proposal for the designation of the circle intersection at Ensenada Avenue and La Playa Boulevard as a plaza to be known as CITY C010MSSION METING OF MAY It 2001 4UW1WWQ NO. 01- 534 "AMY BILLIG MEMORIAL PARK," subject to the applicant paying the City's required $700 application fee; and WHEREAS, the applicant has provided the required fees; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The circle intersection at Ensenada Avenue and La Playa Boulevard, Miami, Florida, is designated as a plaza to be known as "AMY BILLIG MEMORIAL PARK". Section 3. The City Manager is directed to instruct the Director of Public Works to transmit a copy of this Resolution to the Departments of Police, Fire -Rescue, General Services Administration, and Solid Waste, the Miami -Dade County Department of Public Works and the United States Postal Service.
