The theme of this year's festival is "A Legacy of Pride, A Legacy of Hope". Last year's attendance exceeded 150.000 people per day according to estimates by the Miami Herald and the City of Miami Police Department: attracting tourists from all over the country and the Caribbean. This city event is the largest celebration of Haitian culture and heritage in the United States. I applaud the initiative of the organizers of this event for their dedication to the community and for their efforts to bring an awareness of the contributions that Haitian citizens make to our city.
