RECOMMENDATION
FM -064
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution
authorizing the City Manager to execute Professional Services Agreements with each
local participating municipality (see list attached), for the purpose of setting forth the
parties responsibilities in connection with the development and support of a local
Urban Search and Rescue Task Force sponsored by the City of Miami, Department of
Fire -Rescue, contingent upon funding of said project being secured in the form of
Grants from reimbursements from State and Federal Sources.
Resolution 93-226, adopted April 15, 1993, authorized the City Manager to enter into an
Agreement with just three (3) municipalities for the newly created City of Miami US&R
TF2. The Department of Fire -Rescue has developed a new Agreement and expanded its
operation to include a total of twenty-three (23) municipalities that wish to participate in
the Urban Search and Rescue Task Force. The expansion will benefit the Task Force by
providing a larger pool of personnel with the appropriate expertise. The Agreements
will provide the necessary guidelines to coordinate the Task Force and will become part
of and an attachment to the agreement entered into between the City of Miami and the
State and FEMA. There are not anticipated costs associated with the execution of these
Agreements.
