A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION
DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO TAKE ALL STEPS
NECESSARY TO FACILITATE SITE IDENTIFICATION
AND ENVIRONMENTAL AUDIT OF UP TO THREE
POTENTIAL SITES TO ACCOMMODATE A MAJOR
FIRST-CLASS PARK FACILITY IN THE LITTLE
HAITI AREA AND TO IDENTIFY FUNDS IN AN
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $75,000 FROM THE
OPERATING BUDGET OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC
WORKS, TO BE USED FOR PRELIMINARY
ENVIRONMENTAL AND PLANNING STUDIES BY
CONSULTANTS ON THE CITY'S APPROVED LIST, TO
DETERMINE THE MOST APPROPRIATE SITES,
INCLUDING CONDUCTING ENVIRONMENTAL
ASSESSMENTS THROUGH LEVEL THREE, AT NOT MORE
THAN $25,000 PER SITE; DIRECTING THE CITY
MANAGER TO PRESENT A STATUS REPORT TO THE
CITY COMMISSION AT ITS JUNE 28, 2001
MEETING; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE ALLOCATION
OF FUNDS FOR SAID PURPOSE.
WHEREAS, the Little Haiti area of the City of Miami has an
extreme deficit of park area; and
WHEREAS, the citizens of that community have requested that
park area be developed; and
WHEREAS, the development of a major first-class park
facility in the Little Haiti area will definitely have a

positive impact on the residents of Little Haiti and the
neighboring areas;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the
Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and
incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The City Manager is directed to take all
steps necessary to facilitate site identification and
environmental audit of up to three potential sites to
accommodate a major first-class park facility in the Little
Haiti area and to identify funds, in an amount not to exceed
$75,000, from the Operating Budget of the Department of Public
Works, to be used for preliminary environmental and planning
studies by consultants on the City's approved list, to determine
the most appropriate sites, including conducting environmental
assessments through bevel Three, at not more than $25,000 per
site.
Section 3. The City Manager is directed to present a
status report to the City Commission concerning the directives
contained in Section 2 herein at its June 28, 2001 meeting.

Section 4. The allocation of funds, in the amount of
$75,000, for said purpose is authorized.
Section S. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.!'

By this memorandum, I am respectfully requesting to bring top a pocket item directing the City
Manager to take all steps necessary to facilitate site identification and environmental audit of up to
three potential sites to accommodate a major first-class park facility in the Little Haiti area, and to
identify funds in an amount not to exceed $75.000 from the operating budget of the Department of
Public Works, to be used for preliminuoy environmental and planning studies by consultants on the
City approved list.
