RESOLUTION NO. 01- 467
A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION
DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO REVIEW
EXISTING AGREEMENTS WITH THE MLK ECONOMIC
DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION ("MLK") AND MEET
WITH MIAMI -DADS COUNTY AND FEDERAL
OFFICIALS, INCLUDING THOSE FROM THE
DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT
("HUD"), DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
("DOT"), AS WELL AS CONGRESSWOMEN CARRIE
MEEK, TO RECEIVE, REVIEW AND FACILITATE A
PLAN FROM MLK FOR REDEVELOPMENT OF THE SITE
IT PRESENTLY OCCUPIES AT NORTHWEST 62ND
STREET AND NORTHWEST 7""' AVENUE, MIAMI,
FLORIDA; DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO
PRESENT A REPORT AND MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS TO
THE CITY COMMISSION ON OPTIONS AS TO HOW THE
CITY CAN FACILITATE THE MLK PLAN WITHIN
THIRTY DAYS FROM THE RECEIPT OF SAID PLAN;
FURTHER DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO
RECEIVE AND P:_,AN FOR THE REDEVELOPMENT OF
THE PROJECT AND THE SEVENTH AVENUE
CORRIDOR.
WHEREAS, Congressman Carrie Meek has successfully obtained
a grant from the U.S. Department- of Transportation, in the
amount of $93,000, to be used in planning for the development of
a transportation mall by the MLK Economic Development Corp.
( "MLK") ; and

WHEREAS, MLK, located at Northwest 62nd Street and Northwest
7`h Avenue, is interested in participating in a re -development
program of the proposed a transportation mall;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE
C:TY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the
Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and
incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
section 2. The City Manager is directed to review
existing agreements with MLK, and meet with Miami -Dade County
and Federal officials, including those from the Department of
Housing and Urban Development ("HUD"), Department of
Transportation ("DOT"), as well as Congresswomen Carrie Meek, to
receive, review, and facilitate a plan from MLK for
redevelopment of the site it presently occupies at Northwest 62"d
Street and Northwest 7`h Avenue, Miami, Florida.
Section 3. The City Manager is directed to present a
report and make recommendations to the City Commission on
options as to how the City can facilitate the MLK plan within
thirty days from receipt of said plan.
Section 4. The City Manager is directed to receive and
plan for the redevelopment of the project and the Seventh Avenue
Corridor.

Section 5. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor Y

If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at
the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. if
the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately
upon override of the veto by the City Commission.

By this memorandum, I am reslx:ctfully requesting to bring up a pocket item directing the City
