A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION
DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO IDENTIFY FUNDS,
IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $75,000, REQUIRED
TO ENGAGE THE SERVICES OF A CONSULTANT TO
PROVIDE A MASTER PLAN, GATEWAY ENTRANCE AND
CROSSWALK DESIGN, LIGHTING DESIGN, LANDSCAPE
PLAN AND REGULATIONS, DESIGN GUIDELINES AND
STANDARDS AND PERSPECTIVE DRAWINGS FOR THE
CORAL WAY BEAUTIFICATION PROJECT, LOCATED AT
THE CORAL WAY CORRIDOR FROM 12"' TO 37T'
AVENUES, MIAMI, FLORIDA; FURTHER DIRECTING
THE CITY MANAGER TO IMMEDIATELY TAKE ALL
STEPS NECESSARY TO ASSURE THE COMMENCEMENT OF
SUCH SERVICES WITHIN SIXTY DAYS FROM THE
ADOPTION OF THIS RESOLUTION; AUTHORIZING THE
CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE NECt3SSARY
DOCUMENT(S), IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO T14R. CITY
ATTORNEY, FOR THE REQUIRED CONSU,TANT
SERVICES.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
section 1. The City Manager is directed to identify
funds, in an amount not to exceed $75,000, required to engage the
services of a consultant to provide a master plan, gateway
entrance and crosswalk design, lighting design, landscape plan
and regulations, design guidelines and standards and perspective
drawings for the Coral Way Beautification Project, located at the
Coral Way corridor from 12t,h to 37th Avenues, Miami, Florida.

Section 2. The City Manager is directed to immediately
take all steps necessary to assure the commencement of such
services within sixty days from the adoption of this Resolution.
Section 3. The City Manager is authorizedl" to execute
the necessary document(s), in a form acceptable to the City
Attorney, for the required Conaultant services.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption and signature of the: Mayoral

Attached, per your request, is a work outline and a consultant scope of services for
the beautification and improvement of the Coral Way corridor from SW 12th Avenue
(Five Points) to S.W. 37th Avenue, based on the Coral Way Enhancement Study as
prepared by the Planning and Zoning Department. I understand that you will
introduce and discuss this item at the City Commission meeting of April 26, 2001

CONSULTANT SCOPE OF SERVICES
CORAL WAY 13EAUTIFICATION PROJECT
The Scope of Services provided by the Consultant will generally include a Master Plan, gateway
entrance and crosswalk design, lighting design for banyan trees, landscape treatment, design
guidelines and standards, and perspective drawings for the Coral Way Corridor from 12'" to 37"'
Avenues.
1. Research and Data Collection
I Survey of existing conditions and site analysis of project area.
2 City of Miami to provide base information including location of utilities including
water, sewer, and lighting; base information including general graphic information,
zoning ordinance, and other regulatory information.
3 Research on land use patterns.
II. Master Plan
Rendered in color, showing the median strip, existing and proposed vegetation, sidewalk
treatment, gateway entrance feature with decorative paving at 37'" Avenue, decorative
pavement for crosswalks treatment at major intersections, artwork locations in the median,
visual butlers at existing parking lots, and providing building footprints on entire blocks as
per master plan frorn SW 12"' to 37" Avenues.
III. Gateway Entrance and Crosswalks Design
Design of entrance gateway feature at SW 37"' Avenue that is attractive and complementary
to existing banyan trees. Project to include lighting, monument sign. and landscaping.
Artwork may be incorporated into the design of this major gateway. Design of crosswalks at
major intersections (12". 17"' 2211d, 271" 32"° Avenues). Project to include landscaping and
decorative concrete pavement at street and sidewalks. Drawings to include site plans, floor
plans, elevations, sections, and details at design development stage. Project shall also include
preliminary cost estimates.
IV. Lighting plan of the Banyan trees at median major intersections.
Lighting concept plan including site plan for the 12", 17"', 22"d, 27''', 32nd, and 37'" Avenue
intersections showing location of luminaires and power sources, illustrative elevations
showing effect of lighting on banyan trees, preliminary specifications, and cost estimate.
Project to be developed to design development stage.
V. Landscape Plan and Regulations
Specifying trees, shrubs, and ground cover. Replacement of existing trees where required and
addition of new street trees and plant material where necessary. Visual buffers such as hedges,
trees, and other design features at existing parking lots.

Vl. Design Guidelines and Standards
Guidelines and standards for commercial facades with special attention to signage, awnings,
calors, lighting, storefront transparency, and arcades; mixed commercial -residential
development, parking structures and lots, sidewalk treatment, street furniture, and lighting.
VIl. Perspective Drawings
In color at the 37'►' Avenue gateway and three selected major intersections showing the street
character and proposed improvements. Drawings to be l l" x 17"and to include the three
before -and -after renderings to illustrate the intent of the proposal and the commercial farpade
treatment.
Vill. Meetings and Presentations
Presentation of the project at three public meetings, plus final presentation to City of Miami
Planning Advisory Board and City Commission.
IX, Final Product / Deliverables
• Master Plan of the corridor in color at a scale 1" = 100' mounted on foam boards.
• Gateway and crosswalk drawings at a minimum scale of 1/8" = V-0" presented on 24"
x 36" minimum size sheets.
• Lighting plan and details at 24" x 36" si7.e sheets.
• Design guidelines and standards.
• Perspective drawings in color at 1 I" x 17" size.
• Ten bound copies of all documents described above in 1 I" x 17" booklet form.
X. Time schedule for the project: Five months
