HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-01-0430J-01-424 S/10/O1 RESOLUTION NO. 01- 430 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION RELATED TO THE `MAKE IT HOT' CELEBRITY WEEKEND PICNIC, ORGANIZED BY STARKS CHARITABLE FOUNDATION ("STARKS"), TO BE HELD AT THE VIRGINIA KEY MARINA EAST PARKING AREA ON MAY 20, 2001; AUTHORIZING THE WAIVER OF ALL FEES AND PERMITS PERMISSIBLE BY LAW AND THE PROVISION OF IN-KIND SERVICES BY THE DEPARTMENTS OF POLICE, FIRE -RESCUE, AND SOLID WASTE, FOR A TOTAL AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $1560; CONDITIONING SAID AUTHORIZATIONS UPON STARKS: (1) OBTAINING ALL PERMITS REQUIRED BY LAW; (2) PAYING FOR ALL OTHER NECESSARY COSTS OF CITY SERVICES AND APPLICABLE FEES ASSOCIATED WITH SAID EVENT; (3) OBTAINING INSURANCE TO PROTECT THE CITY IN THE AMOUNT AS PRESCRIBED BY THE CITY MANAGER OR DESIGNEE; AND (4) COMPLYING WITH ALL CONDITIONS AND LIMITATIONS AS MAY BE PRESCRIBED BY THE CITY MANAGER OR DESIGNER. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The waiver of all fees and permits permissible by the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended, and the provision of in-kind services by the Departments of Police, Fire -Rescue, and Solid Waste, for a total amount not to exceed $1560, are hereby authorized for the `Make It Hot' Celebrity Weekend Picnic, organized by Starks Charitable Foundation ("Starks"), to be held at the Virginia Key Marina East cay COMxMSSION MEETING OF MAY 1 G 2001 kW6QjU0Gn 00. pi- 430 • Parking Area on May 20, 2001, between 8:00 A.M. and 6:00 P.M. Section 2. The herein authorizations are conditioned upon Starks: (1) obtaining all permits required by law, (2) paying for all other necessary costs of City services and applicable fees associated with said event; (3) obtaining insurance, to protect the City in the amount as prescribed by the City Manager or designee; and (4) complying with all conditions and limitations as may be prescribed by the City Manager or designee. REFERENCES: Car S A. yinwnez City Manager ENCLOSURES: MAY - 2 W FILE Starks Charitable Foundation Request for Fee Waivers It is respectfully recommended the City Commission approve the request to waive permit and administrative fees, excluding the cost for City personnel services (i.e. Police, Fire, Solid Waste). BACKGROUND The Starks Charitable Foundation requests the City of Miami waive permit, administrative, disposal fees, and City personnel services (Police, Fire, Solid Waste). The Administration recommends the applicable permit and administrative fees be waived, and the event organizers pay for all costs for City Service (i.e. Police, Fire, Solid Waste Personnel). Further, that the Foundation obtain insurance to protect the City of Miami in the amount prescribed by the City Manager or designee. Attached, please find an estimated budget Police services for the Starks Charitable Foundation. The estimated cost for Police personnel is based on the Off -Duty rate of pay.
