A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION
AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 99-372 TO AUTHORIZE
AN INCREASE IN THE CONTRACT WITH TEMPLETON
AND FRANKLIN VETERINARY ASSOCIATES FOR THE
PROVISION OF VETERINARY SERVICES FOR POLICE
DEPARTMENT HORSES, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED
$10,000, FROM $18,000 TO $28,000 FOR THE
SECOND YEAR; ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM THE POLICE
GENERAL OPERATING BUDGET FROM ACCOUNT CODE
NO. C01000.290201.6.260.
WHEREAS, Resolution No. 99-372, adopted June 8, 1999,
accepted the bid of Templeton and Franklin Veterinary Associates
for the provision of veterinary services for horses for the
Department of Police, on an as -needed contract basis for one (1)
year, with the option to renew for two additional one-year
periods; and
WHEREAS, the Police Department requires an increase for the
second year of the contract with Templeton and Franklin
Veterinary Associates due to a viral infection and flu afflicting
the horses, causing an increase in acute care expenses; and
WHEREAS, funds for the increase are available from the
Police General Operating Budget, Account Code
No. 001000.290201.6.260;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the
Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and
incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2.. Resolution No. 99-372, adopted June 8, 1999,
is amended in the following particulars:ll

the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted.

immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.

RECOMMENDATION
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution amending
Resolution No. 99-372, adopted on June 8, 1999, increasing the approved amount from $18,000 to
$28,000, for the second year, under an existing contract with Templeton and Franklin Veterinary
Associates, for the provision of veterinary services for horses.
Funding is to be provided from the Police General Operating Budget, from Account Code
001000.290201.6.260.
BACKGROUND
The Police Department is requesting an increase in the existing contract for the provision of
veterinary services for horses. This increase is necessary due to a viral infection and flu, which has
afflicted the horses assigned to the Mounted Patrol Unit, therefore, causing an increase in acute
care expenses.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
