A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION
APPOINTING AN INDIVIDUAL AS A MEMBER OF THE
EQUAL OPPORTUNITY ADVISORY BOARD FOR A TERM
AS DESIGNATED HEREIN.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The following individual is hereby appointed
as a member of the Equal Opportunity Action Advisory Board, to
serve a term expiring February 8, 2002, or until the nominating
Commissioner leaves office, whichever occurs first:

Charles J. Flowers Commissioner Arthur Teele, Jr.
Section 2. The attendance requirements contained in
Section 2-886 of the Code of the City of Miami, as amended, are
hereby waived with regard to Charles J. Flowers' past service on
the Equal Opportunity Action Advisory Board.

SUBJECT: Equal Opportunity Advisory Board

The Equal Opportunity Advisory Board was created to review and recommend to the City
Commission the adoption of amendments/revisions to the City's affirmative action plan. The
board also reviews employment policies and practices of the City and makes recommendations to
the Department of Human Resources.
Four appointments are needed at this time:
• Commissioner Winton has two nominations:
1. One for vacant seat created because Sabrina Bouie, who had been nominated by
former Commissioner Plummer, resigned; and
2. One for vacant seat created because Rasha Soray, who had been nominated by
former Commissioner Plummer, resigned.
• Commissioner Teele has one nomination for seat currently held by Charles J. Flowers,
whose term has expired and who has exceeded the number of absences allowed by the City
Code.
• Commissioner Sanchez has one nomination for seat currently held by Ivan Barrett whose
term has expired and who has exceeded the number of absences allowed by the City Code.
For your information, attached please find a copy of the current membership of said board. By
copy of this memorandum, we are requesting the Agenda Office to place this issue on the April
12, 2001 Commission agenda. This issue was deferred from the February 8, 2001 Commission
meeting.
