HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-01-0384RESOLUTION NO. 01-384 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION APPOINTING AN INDIVIDUAL AS A MEMBER OF THE CULTURAL AND FINE ARTS BOARD FOR A TERM AS DESIGNATED HEREIN. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The following individual is hereby appointed as a member of the Cultural and Fine Arts Board, to serve a term expiring January 12, 2002, or until the nominating Commissioner leaves office, whichever occurs first: APPOINTEE: NOMINATED BY: Pedro Pablo Pena Commissioner Tomas Regalado Section 2. The attendance requirements contained in Section 2-886 of the Code of the City of Miami, as amended, are hereby waived with regard to Pedro Pablo Pena's past service on the Cultural and Fine Arts Board. CM COVMSSION SMM"TMG 4F APR 2 6 2001 up. 01- 384 TO: Honorable Members of ath Ci Commission Math e City Clerk CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA 43 INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM RF.VUED DATE: April 17, 2001 SUBJECT: Cultural and Fine Arts Board REFERENCES: ENCLOSURES: April 26, 2001 Agenda FILE: Resolution, List of Members The Cultural and Fine Arts Board was created to make recommendations and guide the City Commission its determination as to whether any art shall be accepted or acquired by the City Commission; to seek and encourage public participation in all cultural and fine arts events; to attract art programs of other governmental, private or public agencies to the City; to coordinate and originate cultural activities within the City; to qualify community events as being officially recognized; to establish a Miami Art Museum and such branches as are necessary, subject to approval of the City Commission; to recommend acquisition of works of art by the City to be used and made available for the cultural betterment of the City of Miami; to appoint artists or other knowledgeable individuals as honorary board members, who shall advise and assist the board in the furtherance of its duties. Two appointments are needed at this time: • Commissioner Teele has one nomination for vacant seat created because Florene Nichols did not accept reappointment. • Commissioner Regalado has one nomination for seat currently held by Pedro Pablo Pena, who exceeded the number of absences allowed by City Code. For your information, attached please find a copy of the current membership of said board. By copy of this memorandum, we are requesting that the Agenda Office place this issue on the April 26, 2001 agenda.
