FOR THE ACQUISITION OF MAINTENANCE SERVICES FOR BAYFRONT PARK MANAGEMENT TRUST ("TRUST") FOR THE MILDRED AND CLAUDE PEPPER FOUNTAIN, ON A CONTRACT BASIS FOR A ONE-YEAR PERIOD, WITH THE OPTION TO RENEW FOR TWO ADDITIONAL ONE-YEAR PERIODS, IN AN ANNUAL AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $31,960; ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM THE GENERAL OPERATING BUDGET OF THE TRUST. WHEREAS, the Bayfront Park Management Trust ("Trust") was created by the Miami City Commission to direct, operate, manage, and maintain all aspects of the Mildred and Claude Pepper Bayfront Park; and WHEREAS, the Trust requires the acquisition of monthly maintenance services for the Mildred and Claude Pepper Fountain, a premier attraction in Downtown Miami which operates 24 hours a day; and WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, Invitation for Bids No. 99-00-162 was mailed to five potential bidders; and and WHEREAS, one responsive bid was received on October 6, 2000; CITY C4MOSS" XEMNG OF, APR 2 6 2001 0 IL 3 4. WHEREAS, the Trust and its Executive Director recommend that the bid received from J.S.H. Pumps, Inc. be accepted as the lowest responsive and responsible bid; and WHEREAS, funds for this service are available from the General Operating Budget of the Trust; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The October 6, 2000 bid received from J.S.H. Pumps, Inc. for the acquisition of maintenance services for the Trust for the Mildred and Claude Pepper Fountain, on a contract basis for a one-year period, with the option to renew for two additional one-year periods, in an annual amount not to exceed $31,960, is accepted, with funds allocated from the General Operating Budget of the Trust. Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.!/ ii If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. Constar Executive Director RECOMMENDATION It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution accepting the bid received on October 6, 2000, from J.S.H. Pumps, Inc., a Non -minority, Non -Miami -Dade County Vendor, for the provision of Fountain Maintenance Services for the Mildred and Claude Pepper Fountain in Bayfront Park, for the Bayfront Park Management Trust, on a monthly contract basis, for one (1) year with the option to renew for two (2) additional one (1) year periods, in an annual amount not to exceed $31,960, with funds therefore allocated from the Bayfront Park Management Trust Operating Budget. BACKGROUND The Bayfront Park Management Trust was created by the Miami City Commission to direct, operate, manage and maintain all aspects of Bayfront Park. Bayfront Park is the City of Miami's Premier public park, hosting 50 special events and concerts annually. The Mildred and Claude Pepper Fountain operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and serves as the center piece of downtown Miami. Monthly maintenance is necessary to ensure the fountain's continued operation. Pursuant to public notice, Invitation for Bids No 99-00-162 were mailed to five (5) potential bidders. One responsive bid was received on October 6, 2000. Funds for this service are available from the Bayfront Park Management Trust Operating Budget. The Bayfront Park Management Trust and the Executive Director of the Bayfront Park Management recommend that the bid received from J.S.H. Pumps, Inc., be accepted as the lowest responsive and responsible bid.
