HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-01-0282J-01-266 3/27/01 RESOLUTION NO. 01— 282 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION DECLARING AN EXEMPTION FROM THE PROHIBITIONS AND RESTRICTIONS CONTAINED IN SECTIONS 36-4(a) AND 36-5(a) OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA, AS AMENDED, AS RELATED TO THE LEVEL AND HOURS OF NOISE RESULTING FROM FILMING "ALI," FROM APRIL 3 THROUGH APRIL 11, 2001, AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS IN THE CITY OF MIAMI, SUBJECT TO COLUMBIA PICTURES, IN ASSOCIATION WITH FORWARD PASS, INC., THE PRODUCTION COMPANY, OBTAINING CONSENT FROM THE OWNERS AND TENANTS OF THE AFFECTED PROPERTY(S) AT EACH FILMING LOCALITY. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. An exemption is hereby declared from the prohibitions and restrictions contained in Sections 36-4(a) and 36-5 (a) of the Code of the City of Miami, Florida, as amended, as related to the level and hours of noise resulting from the filming of "Ali," from April 3 through April 11, 2001, at various locations in the City of Miami, subject to Columbia Pictures, in Association with Forward Pass, Inc., the production company 7 MAR 2 9 2001 obtaining consent from owners or tenants of the affected property(s) at each filming locality. If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission. For your information, this request is in reference to the feature film "ALI", based on the life of Muhammad Ali, starring Will Smith. Several City of Miami residential areas have been selected for filming, in addition to the Orange Bowl Stadium and the Venetian Causeway. Representatives of our FILM Office have received confirmation from the production's location managers that the residents and businesses affected will be notified, with ample time, in writing.
