FOR THE PROJECT ENTITLED "MORNINGSIDE STREET BARRIERS PROJECT, B-4629" IN THE PROPOSED AMOUNT OF $26,735.80; ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM PROJECT NO. 341170 AS APPROPRIATED BY THE ANNUAL APPROPRIATIONS AND CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS ORDINANCES, AS AMENDED, IN THE AMOUNT OF $26,735.80 FOR THE CONTRACT COSTS AND $2,984.20 FOR EXPENSES, FOR A TOTAL ESTIMATED COST OF $29,720.00; AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, FOR SAID PURPOSE. WHEREAS pursuant to public notice, Invitation for Bids No. 00-01-061 for the project entitled "Morningside Street Barriers Project, B-4629," was mailed to fourteen (14) potential bidders; and WHEREAS, four (4) bids were received February 6, 2001; and WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Director of the Department of Public Works recommend that the bid from Thomas Maintenance Service, Inc. be accepted as the lowest responsible and responsive bid; and 011-1 co MEETING OF, MAR 2 9 2001 01- 261 M WHEREAS, funds are available from Project No. 341170, as appropriated by the Annual Appropriations and Capital Improvement Projects Ordinances, as amended; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The February 6, 2001 bid of Thomas Maintenance Service, Inc., in the proposed amount of $26,735.80, for the project entitled "Morningside Street Barriers Project, B-4629" for the total proposed bid, based on lump sum and unit prices, is accepted at the price stated therein. Section 3. The total estimated project costs of $29,720.00 are allocated from Project No. 341170, as appropriated by the Annual Appropriations and Capital Improvement Projects Ordinances, as amended. Total project costs consist of $26,735.80 for contract costs and $2,984.20 for estimated expenses incurred by the City. Section 4. The City Manager is hereby authorized!' to execute an agreement, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, with Thomas Maintenance Service, Inc. for said purpose. 1� The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. The project involves removing soil and any existing vegetation within the existing barricades in the right- of-way and replacing with Grade "A" Eucalyptus Mulch throughout various locations of the Morningside district. The work also includes providing and installing Saw Palmetto (Serenoa Repens) plants, 3 feet high chain link fence and 6 -inch diameter bollards as shown on Plans.
