RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION
ENDORSING THE JOHNSON AND WALES CULINARY
EDUCATION AND TRAINING FOR AT -RISK YOUTH
("CETARY") PROJECT FOR THE USEFUL SKILL
DEVELOPMENT AND NEW OPPORTUNITIES FOR
POSITIVE PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL GROWTH;
FURTHER DIRECTING THE CITY CLERK TO TRANSMIT
A COPY OF THIS RESOLUTION TO THE OFFICIALS
DESIGNATED HEREIN.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami is committed to the education and
development of the youth of the community; and
WHEREAS, the Johnson and Wales Culinary Education and
Training for At -Risk Youth ("CETARY") Project is designed to offer
youth, who have been determined to be at -risk, a useful skill
development and opportunities for positive personal and
professional growth; and
WHEREAS, the CETARY Project requires that candidates be
officially deemed as high school dropouts or are at high risk of
becoming a drop out and be able to articulate a clear interest in
culinary arts training and employment; and
WHEREAS, the City commission wishes to express its support
and urge continued funding for the program by the United States
Department of Justice, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency
Prevention;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the
Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and
incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section.
Section 2. The City Commission endorses the Johnson and
Wales CETARY project for the useful skill development and new
opportunities for positive personal and professional growth.
Section 3. The City Clerk is directed to transmit a copy
of this Resolution to U.S. Representative William Lehman, Retired,
U.S. Representative Carrie Meek and U.S. Department of Justice,
Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention and any
other state or federal officials deemed appropriate for said
purpose.
Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective
immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.'/
1� If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at
the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted.
If the Mayor vetoes this Resolution, it shall become effective
immediately upon override of the veto by the City Commission.
