HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-01-0203J-01-571 2/22/01 RESOLUTION NO. 01— 203 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ESTABLISHING AND AUTHORIZING A CAP ON THE BASIC USER FEE OF $5,000 FOR THE PRESENTATION OF SOCCER GAMES BY INTER FOREVER SPORTS, INC., AT THE ORANGE BOWL STADIUM ON JANUARY 26 AND MARCH 7, 2001, SAID AUTHORIZATION CONDITIONED UPON INTER FOREVER SPORTS, INC., (1) PAYING ALL NECESSARY COSTS OF CITY SERVICES AND APPLICABLE FEES ASSOCIATED WITH SAID EVENT, (2) OBTAINING INSURANCE TO PROTECT THE CITY IN THE AMOUNT PRESCRIBED BY THE CITY MANAGER OR DESIGNEE, AND (3) COMPLYING WITH ALL CONDITIONS AND LIMITATIONS AS MAY BE PRESCRIBED BY THE CITY MANAGER; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ALL NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, FOR SAID PURPOSE. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. A cap on the user fee of $5,000 for the presentation of soccer games by Inter Forever Sports, Inc., at the Orange Bowl Stadium on January 26 and March 7, 2001, is established and authorized. The authorization is contingent upon Inter Forever Sports Inc., (1) paying for all necessary costs of the City services and applicable fees associated with said event, (2) obtaining insurance to protect the City in the amount as prescribed by the City Manager or designee, and (3) complying with all conditions and limitations as may be prescribed by the City Manager or designee. Section 3. The City Manager is authorizedll to execute all necessary documents, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.' 1� The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. zIf the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. Gi enez City Manage DATE February 22, 2001 FILE SUBJECT Resolution Establishing a Cap on the Basic Use Fee for Presentation of Soccer Games by Interforever Sports REFERENCEaj the Orange Bowl Stadium ENCLOSURES. RECOMMENDATION It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution establishing a cap of $5,000 per event day on the Basic Use Fee for the presentation of soccer matches by Interforever Sports, Inc. at the Orange Bowl Stadium. BACKGROUND The Department of Conferences, Conventions and Public Facilities recommends that a cap of $5,000 per event day on the Basic Use Fee for the presentation of soccer matches held January 26th, 2001 and to be held on March 7th, 2001 be established in order to secure these events at the Orange Bowl Stadium. The City will receive a ticket surcharge and retain all revenues from food, beverages and parking, in addition to the Basic Use Fee. The event organizers will pay all the necessary costs of City services and applicable fees associated with the event. It is anticipated that these soccer matches will produce net revenues to the City in excess of $75,000. CAG/FKR/CPA/IG/yp 0- 203
