A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION CLASSIFYING FIVE SURPLUS PICKUP TRUCKS OR AUTOMOBILES AS CATEGORY "A" SURPLUS STOCK; FURTHER AUTHORIZING THE DONATION OF SUCH VEHICLES TO THE COUNTRY OF EL SALVADOR, TO BE USED BY EL SALVADOR IN ITS EARTHQUAKE RESCUE AND RECOVERY EFFORTS, CONTINGENT UPON EL SALVADOR ACCEPTING SAID VEHICLES IN AS IS CONDITION AND PROVIDING ALL TRANSPORTATION, PACKING AND SHIPPING COSTS; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE APPROPRIATE RELEASE DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, FOR SAID PURPOSE. WHEREAS, on January 13, February 13, and February 20, 2001, three devastating earthquakes shook the country of El Salvador, two of which killed at least 1,246 people, injured approximately 8,000 individuals, and left thousands upon thousands of people homeless; and WHEREAS, it is the intention of the City Commission that five of the City of Miami's surplus pickup trucks and automobiles be declared as Category "A" Surplus Stock and be donated in as is condition to El Salvador to assist in its earthquake rescue and recovery efforts; CITY COM7CSSION VIEET'NG OF dltlution N .` x.82 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. Five surplus pickup trucks or automobiles are declared as Category "A" Surplus Stock and the City Manager is authorized to donate such vehicles to the country of El Salvador, to be used by El Salvador in its earthquake rescue and recovery efforts, contingent upon El Salvador accepting said vehicles in as is condition and providing all transportation, packing and shipping costs. Section 3. The City Manager is authorized!' to execute the appropriate release documents, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney, for said purpose. Section 4. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayoral 1� The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. z/ If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted.
