HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-01-0162J-01-1104 2/15/01 RESOLUTION NO. 61- 162 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION TO THE U. S. DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT ("HUD") PERTAINING TO $6 MILLION OF SECTION 8 VOUCHER FUNDS, PREVIOUSLY APPROVED AND APPROPRIATED TO THE CITY OF MIAMI AND WHICH ARE UNDERUTILIZED, TO REQUEST THAT THE UNDERUTILIZED SECTION 8 VOUCHER FUNDS BE REPROGRAMMED FOR USE BY THE CITY OF MIAMI FOR HOMEOWNERSHIP PROGRAMS IN THE MODEL CITY HOMEOWNERSHIP ZONE. WHEREAS, the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development ("HUD") previously approved and appropriated Section 8 Voucher Funds for the City of Miami; and WHEREAS, the sum of $6 million of Section 8 Voucher Funds were not utilized, during the period of time allotted for use of the funds, by the City of Miami for the plans and programs for which the funds were initially appropriated and approved by HUD; and WHEREAS, the Miami City Commission is desirous of HUD reprogramming the funds to permit the City of Miami to use the CITY C0= MERTUM CM FE P 1 5 2001 Rescaution D10. 61- 162 funds in supporting programs for homeownership in the Model City Homeownership Zone. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is authorizedil to make an application to the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development ("HUD") pertaining to $6 million of Section 8 Voucher Funds, previously approved and appropriated to the City of Miami and which are underutilized, to request that the underutilized Section 8 Voucher Funds be reprogrammed for use by the City of Miami for homeownership programs in the Model City Homeownership Zone. 1' The herein authorization is further subject to compliance with all requirements that may be imposed by the City Attorney, including but not limited to those prescribed by applicable City Charter and Code provisions. Page 2 of 3 01— 162 Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor.21 PASSED AND ADOPTED this 15th day of February 2001.
