HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-01-0111J-01-60 1/29/01 RESOLUTION NO. 01— 111 1 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION RATIFYING, APPROVING AND CONFIRMING THE CITY MANAGER'S ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION OF FOOD FROM THE MCDONALD'S CORPORATION, WITH AN ESTIMATED VALUE OF $600, AND 570 TOYS FOR NEEDY CHILDREN FROM PAWA COMPLEX INTERNATIONAL, INC., WITH AN ESTIMATED VALUE OF $1,876, TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION, FOR THE ANNUAL "SNOW IN THE SUNSHINE" EVENT HELD ON DECEMBER 16, 2000 AT THE ORANGE BOWL STADIUM. WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation presented the annual "Snow in the Sunshine" event at the Orange Bowl Stadium on Saturday, December 16, 2000; and WHEREAS, more than 500 children from the community attended the event which featured food, rides, music and twenty-two (22) tons of snow; and WHEREAS, McDonald's Corporation and PAWA Complex International, Inc. participated in the annual event by donating CITY COQ'S REE=G CF FEB 082001 food and toys for needy children; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The acceptance of a donation of food from the McDonald's Corporation, with an estimated value of $600, and 570 toys for needy children from PAWA Complex International, Inc., with an estimated value of $1,876, to the Department of Parks and Recreation, for the annual "Snow in the Sunshine" event held on December 16, 2000 at the Orange Bowl Stadium, is ratified, approved and confirmed. Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayorl1. 1� If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. BACKGROUND: The Department of Parks and Recreation holds an annual 'Snow in the Sunshine " event at the Orange Bowl where more than 500 children from the community enjoy food, rides, music and twenty-two (22) tons of snow. The McDonald's Corporation donated approximately $600 worth of food to help the City defray the cost of this event. In addition, PAWA Complex International, Incorporated, donated 570 toys valued at approximately $1,876.00 for needy children, making this event a success.
