WHEREAS, the Police Department requires personal protection equipment to issue to new officers for use during disturbances and training exercises and to replace existing equipment in poor condition; and WHEREAS, pursuant to public notice, Invitation for Bids No. 99-00-248 was mailed to twenty-two (22) potential bidders; and and WHEREAS, two (2) responses were received on October2, 2000; CITY COMOSS100 I'EETI3dG OF. ( ` ;� .: n'101 WHEREAS, the City Manager and the Chief of Police recommend that the bid received from Super Seer Corporation be accepted as the lowest responsive and responsible bid; and WHEREAS, funds are available from Department of Police General Operating Budget, Account Code No. 001000.290201.6.075; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The October 2, 2000 bid received from Super Seer Corporation for the procurement of riot/correctional helmets with face shields and replacement parts for the Department of Police, in an annual amount not to exceed $47,467.50, on a contract basis for a period of one (1) year, with the option to renew for two (2) additional one-year periods, subject to a price adjustment of 4% for each subsequent year is accepted, with funds allocated from the Department of Police General Operating Budget, Account Code No. 001000.290201.6.075. Section 3. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor!/. �i If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. Funding will be provided from the Police Department General Operating Budget, Account Code 001000.290201.6.075. BACKGROUND The Department of Police has analyzed the bids received pursuant to Bid No. 99-00-248 for the purchase of Riot/Correctional Helmets with face shield and replacement parts. Twenty-two (22) invitations for bids were mailed and two (2) responses were received. Super Seer Corporation, submitted the lowest most responsible and responsive bid and is, therefore recommended for award. The Police Department does not currently have sufficient personal protection equipment to issue to each new officer. Additionally, the condition of some of the older existing equipment is poor, due to its age, use in disturbances and training exercises, and needsto be replaced.
