BACKGROUND: The Ericsson Open Tennis Tournament, formally known as the Lipton Tennis Tournament, is scheduled for March 21, 2001 to April 1, 2001. Miami -Dade County has requested to utilize a portion of Miami Marine Stadium and a portion of Virginia Key Beach as parking for event staff and patrons. As in past years, the City has utilized stables at Tropical Park in Miami -Dade County in exchange for Miami -Dade County utilizing parking at Virginia Key and the Marine Stadium for this special event. Attached is a summary of the justification for granting parking to the County, which shows that the net effect of leasing the stalls from the City and operating the parking ourselves would be in the negative.
