HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-01-0074RESOLUTION NO. 01— r- j4 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION CONFIRMING THE APPOINTMENT OF AN INDIVIDUAL AS A MEMBER OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GENERAL EMPLOYEES' AND SANITATION EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT TRUST FOR A TERM AS DESIGNATED HEREIN. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The appointment of the following individual, submitted by the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), certified bargaining unit, is hereby confirmed as a member of the Board of Trustees of the City of Miami General Employees' and Sanitation Employees' Retirement Trust, to serve a term as designated herein: APPOINTEE: Oscar Valido TERM EXPIRATION DATE: November 30, 2002 PASSED AND ADOPTED this 25th day of January, 2001. CITY COMMISSION MEETING OF Siss.:l ilion Iia. `;_- 4 CITY OF MIAMI GENERAL EMPLOYEES' AND SANITATION EMPLOYEF,S' RETIREMENT TRUST MEMORANDUM TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND DATE: DECEMBER 21, 2000 MEMBERS OF THE CITY COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION• It is recommended that the City Commission confirm the appointment by AFSCME of Oscar Valido as a representative selected by AFSCME as member of the City of Miami General Employees' and Sanitation Employees' Retirement Trust Board of Trustees as per attached Resolution. BACKGROUND: City of Miami Code Section 40-243 (A), (Ordinance No. 10002), provides for the appointment of a nine member board of trustees to administer and manage the retirement plan known as the "City of Miami General Employees' and Sanitation Employees' Retirement Trust." Of these nine members, one is to be selected by the City Manager, two by the general employees (A.F.S.C.M.E. bargaining unit), and two by the sanitation employees (AFSCME Florida Council 79 bargaining unit). Four independent trustees are to be selected by the City Commission per recommendation by the two bargaining units. Mr. Charles Cox, President of AFSCME, has submitted for confirmation the name of Oscar Valido for appointment to the Pension Board (see attached letter). The term of office for Oscar Valido would begin immediately and expire on November 30, 2002.
