RECEIVED
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your letter in reference to my donation of a service
dog for the City of Miami K-9 Unit. I would like to express to you that is an honor.to be able to assist the City
of Miami Police K-9 Detail in the expansion of their unit.
I am still willing to donate a service dog to one of your new officers. As you stated in your letter, I
contacted Major Darling and advised him of such, however, he advised me that the transfers for the K-9 Detail
has been temporarily put on hold by the Chief of Police. He also stated that as soon as the City is ready to add
new members to their K-9 unit, he would contact me in order for us to meet and discuss the details of my
donation of the service dog.
It is my understanding the your current vendor's contract with the City of Miami will expire in October,
2000. It is also my understanding that the purchase price from your vendor per service dog is approximately
$5,500.00. As an ex -K-9 handler and graduate from the City of Miami Police Department K-9 school, I am aware
of the quality of service dogs that the City demands. Police Service Dogs, Inc. can provide the City of Miami
Police Department with excellent quality, guarantee and service for $4,500.00. With these savings, you will be
able to add an additional member to the K-9 unit, at no cost to the City.
I am also aware that your current vendor's schedule for the training consists of the officer having to
adjust his schedule. Not only does Police Service Dogs, Inc. have a facility for training, but we can offer you the
training while the officer is on -duty. This means that we will be at the disposal of the officers schedule, allowing
the officer to train when not attending a call. Once again, this will save the City of Miami time, money and any
inconveniences to other fellow officers.
In conclusion, once again I would like to express my sincere gratitude to you and your staff, for the
opportunity to allow Police Service Dogs, Inc. to contribute to the City of Miami Police Department. Should you
have any questions or concerns, please contact me at (305) 274-0057.
