RECOMMENDATION
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Ordinance amending
Section 53-181 of the City Code to modify rental rates and charges at the Miami Convention
Center.
BACKGROUND
The Trust Indenture for the Miami Convention Center requires the rates and charges be reviewed
each year. The Department of Conferences, Conventions and Public Facilities recommends
changes in the rates based on a study of rates and charges at comparable facilities conducted by
Global Spectrum, the manager of the Center. The proposed rate changes include an increase in the
per day rate for use of the Exhibit Hall, and an increase in the minimum number of people per event
applicable to catering functions.
These rate revisions are necessary for the Miami Convention Center to remain competitive in the
marketplace. It is estimated that $35,604 in additional revenues will be generated in the next fiscal
year.

The word "catering" should be removed from part c and the indicated rents should be for other events, and
all catering events should fall under part g
