HomeMy WebLinkAboutO-12060J-01-305 4/10/01 ORDINANCE -NO. 12060 AN ORDINANCE• OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION ESTABLISHING A NEW SPECIAL REVENUE FUND ENTITLED "FLORIDA REGULATORY MARKERS AND SIGNAGE GRANT FUND" AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS FOR THE OPERATION OF SAME, IN THE AMOUNT OF $1,500, CONSISTING OF A GRANT FROM THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACCEPT THE GRANT AND TO EXECUTE THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS, IN A FORM ACCEPTABLE TO THE CITY ATTORNEY, FOR ACCEPTANCE OF THE GRANT; CONTAINING A REPEALER PROVISION AND A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE. WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection is authorized to provide grants to local governments to provide regulatory markers and signage for waterways; and WHEREAS, the City of Miami has been awarded a grant from the Florida Department of. Environmental Protection, in the amount of $1,500, for additional regulatory markers and signage to facilitate safer transportation in the Biscayne Bay area; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Ordinance are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. . t ± l5i t../t t.✓ 1 12��0 Section 2. The following new Special Revenue Fund is established and resources are appropriated as described herein: .Fund Title: Florida Regulatory Markers and Signage Grant Fund Resources: Florida Department of Environmental Protection $1,500 Appropriations: $1,500 Section 3. The City Manager, is authorized!' to accept the grant from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection and to execute the necessary documents, in a form acceptable to the City Attorney. Section 4. All ordinances or parts of ordinances insofar as they are inconsistent or in conflict with the provisions of this Ordinance are repealed. Section 5. If any section, part of section, paragraph, clause, phrase or word of this Ordinance is declared invalid, the remaining provisions of this Ordinance shall not be affected. Section 6. Gimenez City Manager ENCLOsu�;Es: RECOMMENDATION It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Ordinance authorizing the City Manager to execute the necessary documents to accept a grant award in the amount of $1,500 from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection; and establishing a special revenue fund entitled, "Florida Regulatory Markers/Signage Grant." BACKGROUND The Department of Conferences, Conventions and Public Facilities has been awarded grant funds from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection in the amount of $1,500 to provide additional regulatory markers and signage in the Biscayne Bay area.
