The estithhshment has heen family owned and operated for over 32 years, serving it variety of patrons from Miami. Perrine, Forl Lauderdale, Richmond Heights and even the Bahamas and Canada. Approximalciv 250 regular patrons frequent the popular Rar-A-Q restaurant/bar during the week. Originally known as the Slable Lounge, Frank and Annie King rim the daily operations of the establishment for 30 years. in 1087, Frank King suffered a stroke and was perinwiently wheelchair hound. Annie King continued operations until her death in 1996. t_:pun her death, Adolph King, her nephew, took over the management of the facility although, Frank King maintained ownership. During Adolph's [enure, mayor improvements were madc to the property. Two abandoned laid derelict buildings flanked the original King's Stable and the exterior of the building was hardly in need of renovation. Adolph Kind; did a complete fticclift of the property including the demolition 011' the two rundown properties and paving a .35 space parking, lot. The entire properly was fenced for heightened security and major landscape installed in grunt of the facility facing NF 5"' Avenue heautil'ied the mmewapc. The interior rrnovauons included nir conditioning expansion and remodeling ol' the kitchen and hathrooms. All renovations were privalely funded. On Sepicinher 4, 1999, Adolph King was shut and killed inside King's Stable by two masked gunmen anLI in front of witnesses. No arrests have been made; the case is unsolved. 'T'oday, the husiness provides jobs for 15-20 area residents under the munagement of Charom Kind,, daughter of brand: King, who relocated from Los Angeles. California to take over the day-to-day operations. Kings Stable is famous for hancVyue that is slow - cooked in the original brick 13arbeyue Pit.
