Colombian Independence Festival
I respectfully request that this City Commission consider co-sponsorship of the
Colombian Independence Festival, which will be held at the Tamiami Park Expo
Fairgrounds on Saturday, July 21'1 and Sunday, July 22nd, 2001. The Colombian
American Service Association organizes this festival and they are requesting to place
light pole banners in the city of Miami to advertise the event.

we are proud to announce that for its eleventh consecutive year the Colombian
AmeHcan Service Association (C.A.S.A.) a non-proAt organization and Congo de Oro
Productions will be presenting its traditional Colombian Independence Festival. One of
the largest and most successful festival In all South Florida (with record braking
attendance of over forty-five thousand people last year)) will be held, at the Tamiami
Park Expo Fairgrounds on Saturday, July 21" and Sunday, My 22nd, 2001.
This year's version, as always, will be hosted by prominent television and radio
personalities of South Florida and will feature two giant stages where premier musical
groups will be performing continuously until 11:00 p.m. There will be recreation for
children, arts and crafts, a wide variety of food from Colombia and other Latin-American
countries and many companies promoting their products and services.
We would like to take this opportunity to Invite your company to take advantage of
the rapidly Increasing Latin communities of South Florida for exhibition of your logo,

INDEPENDENCE FESTIVAL
The Colombian Independence Festival takes place every July on the anniversary of
the declaration of independence of Colombia. Every year since the mid '80's Miaml has
celebrated this anniversary with a festival that is considered today one of the most
successful and largest festivals of South Florida and soil growing. Last year more than
45,000 people came to envoy themselves in a great party, dancing to the rhythm of the
most the popular Latin-American music groups, while savoring exotic dishes from
Colombia and all Latin -America. They also can shop for a wide variety of arts, crafts and
diverse type of products and services.
This "family and friends" event has been carried out through the: past eleven years
with much success, Children under ten are invited, at no charge, to participate with
their parents and enjoy a complete pavilion dedicated to them with all types of
mechanical rides, games, oriented recreation and more. All this to snake it a_ family type
ce!ebratlon.
At around sunset the festival picks up steam with thousands of people dancing to the
sound of drums, trumpets, guitars and maracas of the cumbla, bachata, vallenato, salsa
and merengue rhythms. Two giant stages assure not only clrculabon, but also the
pubiics enjoyment of their favorite groups. The sound and light equipment are one of
the best to Insure clear dynamic sound and adequate lightning after sunset.

the Miami Dade Police and other agencies and authorities of the ccunty. The ample free
parking space accommodates more than 8,000 vehicles will i the help of many people n
charge of directing and securing cars and persons.
This festival is organized by the Colombian American Services Association, Inc.
(C.A.S.A.) a non-profit 501( c)(3), community based organization established to assist
and support the Hispanic community. Established by Colombian -Americans, C.A.S.A.'s
mission Is to take part in the betterment of our community by providing information and
services that assist, educate and develop Hispanic communities. It actively maintains
working relationships with private and public agencies to ensure puo:ic policy and
services address the social, economic and educationa' needs of the growing Hispanic
community.
Congo De Oro Corporation, a highly recognized production company, produces the
Colombian independence Festival. It has twelve years of experience as a producer of
many successful events throughout South Florida.
