Arthur Andersen
IT Strategic Plan
Discussion Item
ez
City .fang
I have directed that an item be included on the agenda of March 22, 2001, to allow Arthur
Andersen LLP to present to the City Commission the Information Technology Strategic
Plan.
As you will recall, the City of Miami issued a Request for Proposals for the development of an 1T
Strategic Plan. An evaluation committee consisting of members from the private sector
and public sector was appointed to review the responses for the RFP and make a
recommendation. Six firms responded to the City's RPP—MGT of America; KPMG;
Data Industries, Ltd.; Booz Allen & Hamilton; Arthur Andersen; and The Gartner Group.
The Evaluation Committee recommended authorizing negotiation and awarding the
contract to Arthur Andersen LLP as the top ranked firm for the purpose of providing
comprehensive consulting services to develop a Strategic Plan for Information
Technology. At the Commission meeting of May I1, 2000, the City of Miami
Commission approved resolution 00-395, authorizing the City Manager to enter into
negotiations with the top ranked firm, Arthur Andersen, LLP.
During the past six months the Information Technology Department, the Information
Technology Steering Committee, and Arthur Andersen have worked very diligently to
put this plan together.
This plan is now completed and Arthur Andersen and the City Administration are ready
to presentfhe
prrlan to the City Commission.
