to Civil Service Board Q-02-1043)
The attached proposed Resolution has been prepared for your consideration to provide
compensation, in the amount of $39,000, for Special Counsel to the Civil Service Board.
Funds are available from the Fiscal Year 2002-2003 budgeted funds of the Civil Service
Office, Account No. 250101-250.
Special counsel to serve as legal advisor to the Civil Service Board is required because
the City Attorney prosecutes violators of actions in conflict with Civil Service Rules and
Regulations, and therefore, cannot both represent and prosecute cases before the Civil Service
Board.
The compensation is payable as earned during the period of such counsel's employment.
Services provided by Special Counsel shall include any related litigation services required by
the Civil Service Board.
