A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION
APPOINTING CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS AS MEMBERS OF
THE MIAMI COMMISSION ON THE STATUS OF WOMEN
FOR TERMS AS DESIGNATED HEREIN.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The following individuals are hereby
appointed as members of the Miami Commission on the Status of
Women, each to serve a term expiring November 16, 2003 or until
the nominating Commissioner leaves office, whichever occurs
first:

The Commission on the Status of Women was created to serve in an advisory capacity to the City
Commission, including advising on any possible barrier which may impede the participation of women in
City sponsored programs and activities; to work toward legislation granting women equality before the law;
to inspire in women the desire for self-improvement and pride of being, regardless of age, marital status,
race, color or creed; to seek for every woman the opportunities equal to her potential and responsibility; to
seek opportunities for and to encourage the active involvement of women in matters pertaining to
community progress; to encourage capable women in roles of leadership.
All eleven members' terms expire on November 16, 2002:
• Chairman Regalado has two nominations for seats currently held by Josefina Sanchez-
Pando and Allyson Warren.
• Commissioner Gonzalez has two nominations for seats currently held by Pauline
Ramos and Constance Johnson.
• Commissioner Teele has two nominations for seats currently held by Shashi Jagadish
and Karen Cartright.
• Commissioner Sanchez has two nominations for seats currently held by Raquel
Tourgeman and Patricia W. Hsu.
• Commissioner Winton has two nominations for one vacancy created because Lucie
Tondreau resigned and one seat currently held by Anita McGruder.
• Mayor Diaz has one appointment for seat currently held by Karen Andre, who has
exceeded the number of absences allowed per City of Miami Code.
For your information, attached please find a copy of the current membership of said board. By
copy of this memorandum, we are requesting the Agenda Office place this issue on the November
19, 2002 Commission agenda.
