A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, WITH ATTACHMENT (S) , BY A FOUR-FIFTHS (4/5 THS) AFFIRMATIVE VOTE, RATIFYING, APPROVING, AND CONFIRMING THE CITY MANAGER'S FINDING OF AN EMERGENCY, WAIVING THE REQUIREMENTS FOR COMPETITIVE SEALED BIDDING PROCEDURES AND AUTHORIZING EMERGENCY REPAIRS FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERVICES ADMINISTRATION, MIAMI RIVERSIDE CENTER BUILDING AND PARKING GARAGE, TO VARIOUS VENDORS DESCRIBED IN "EXHIBIT A", ATTACHED AND INCORPORATED; ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERVICES ADMINISTRATION, MIAMI RIVERSIDE CENTER DIVISION, ACCOUNT CODE NO. 504000.421901.6.340, IN THE AMOUNT OF $11,932.50 (FY 2002) AND ACCOUNT CODE NO. 504000.421901.6.670, IN THE AMOUNT OF $13,520.00 (FY 2002), FOR A TOTAL AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $25,452.50. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. By a four-fifths (4/5ths) affirmative vote of the members of the City Commission, the City Manager's finding of an emergency, waiving the requirements for competitive sealed bidding procedures and authorizing emergency repairs for the Department of General Services Administration ("GSA"), Miami ce 2002 �88G>ii4�tCri4 �. ,02-1235 Riverside Center Building ("MRC") and Parking Garage for the (1) fire panel in the MRC Building and Parking Garage; (2) building access card system; (3) closed circuit television system of the MRC Building; and (4) emergency transfer switches of the emergency generator of the MRC Building to various vendors, described in "Exhibit A", attached and incorporated, is ratified, approved and confirmed, with funds allocated from the Department of General Services Administration, Miami Riverside Center Division, Account Code No. 504000.421901.6.340, in the amount of $11,932.50 (FY 2002) and Account Code No. 504000.421901.6.670, in the amount of $13,520.00 (FY 2002), for a total amount not to exceed $25,452.50. Section 2. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption and signature of the Mayor." 1� If the Mayor does not sign this Resolution, it shall become effective at the end of ten calendar days from the date it was passed and adopted. Chi Alarms, Inc. 15325 NW 60 Avenue, #101 Miami Lakes, Florida 33014 Dade/Hispanic Items Awarded: Emergency repairs to the fire panels of the main building and parking garage of the Miami Riveside Center Building Emergency Ratifications -MRC Emergency Repairs 02-1235 TO CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM The Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Commission �/ • We ��� i � ez ?; RECOMMENDATION DATE: NOV - 4 2002 SUBJECT: 21 Resolution Ratifying City Manager's Action REFERENCES: MRC Emergency Repairs ENCLOSURES - Due to Lightning Strikes FILE : It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution ratifying, approving and confirming by a four fifths (4/5ths) affirmative vote, the City Manager's finding that an emergency situation existed, thus waiving the requirements for competitive bidding procedures and awarding the emergency repairs of: 1) the fire panel in the main building and parking garage; 2) access card system; 3) closed circuit television system of the Miami Riverside Center Building; and 4) emergency transfer switches of the emergency generator of the MRC Building, to various vendors, as more particularly described in Exhibit "A" attached hereto and made part hereof, in a total amount not to exceed $25,452.50. Funding is available from the Department of General Services Administration, Miami Riverside Center Division, Account Code Nos. 504000.421901.6.670, in the amount of $13,520.00 (FY02') and 504000.421901.6.340, in the amount of $11,932.50 (FY02'). BACKGROUND The Miami Riverside Center Building was struck by lighting and the following was damaged: 1) the fire panel in the main building and parking garage; 2) access card system; 3) closed circuit television system of the Miami Riverside Center Building; and 4) emergency transfer switches of the emergency generator of the MRC Building. As a result, the City Manager approved an emergency purchase request for the emergency repairs at the Miami Riverside Center Building and Parking Garage at a total cost of $25,452.50. Each of these items play a critical part in the safety and security of the MRC Building, its employees and the public.
