HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-02-1192J-02-953 10/28/02 RESOLUTION NO. 02-1192 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER TO COORDINATE THE EFFORTS OF THE MIAMI SPORTS AND EXHIBITION AUTHORITY, THE BAYFRONT PARK MANAGEMENT TRUST, AND THE DEPARTMENT OF OFF-STREET PARKING TO IDENTIFY $10,000 IN DISCRETIONARY FUNDING, TO SUPPORT THE 2ND ANNUAL HOLIDAY PARTY AND TOY DRIVE AT THE COCONUT GROVE EXHIBITION CENTER ON DECEMBER 10, 2002, SPONSORED BY THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR. WHEREAS, the Mayor and Members of the Miami Commission seek to bring the joy of the Holiday Season to needy children from throughout the City of Miami, and WHEREAS, the Office of the Mayor is actively working to secure corporate and individual donations of toys, food, entertainment, and other needed items for the 2nd Annual Holiday Party and Toy Drive, and WHEREAS, the Office of the Mayor and the City of Miami Commission seek to expand the City's involvement to include City agencies, specifically the Miami Sports & Exhibition Authority, IF ' COMMSSION 8� O Q CT 2 0 2002 A bAion No. 0 ..'" a2 I . the Bayfront Park Management Trust, and the Department of Off -Street Parking, and WHEREAS, the Office of the Mayor has identified the need for an additional $10,000 in support to underwrite the day's program and supplement corporate and individual donations; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION: Section 1. The recitals and findings contained in the Preamble to this Resolution are adopted by reference and incorporated as if fully set forth in this Section. Section 2. The City Manager is directed to coordinate the efforts of the Miami Sports and Exhibition Authority, the Bayfront Park Management Trust, and the Department of Off -Street Parking to identify $10,000 in discretionary funding to support the 2nd Annual Holiday Party and Toy Drive to be held on December 10, 2002, at the Coconut Grove Exhibition Center, sponsored by the Office of the Mayor.
