HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-02-1125RESOLUTION NO. 02-1125 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION, RATIFYING THE APPOINTMENT OF CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS AS MEMBERS OF THE OVERTOWN ADVISORY BOARD. WHEREAS, the Overtown Advisory Board Election scheduled for October 8, 2001 was not held because four candidates qualified for seven seats, thereby making said candidates unopposed and declared to be winners. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The City Commission hereby confirms the appointment of the following individuals as members of the Overtown Advisory Board, each to serve a term of two years which will expire on September 14, 2004: ELECTED LaPrincyCsessazatta T. Bess Del Bryan Dorothy Fields Arnold Riettie City Commission Meeting of October 10, 2002 Resolution Number 02-1125 Section 2. The employment restrictions contained in Section 2-884(3) of the Code of the City of Miami, as amended, are hereby waived as said restrictions pertain to the appointment of LaPrincyCsessazatta T. Bess as a member of the Overtown Advisory Board. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 10th day of October, 2002. THIS ADMINISTRATIVE ACT SHALL BECOME EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY. PRISCILLA A. Seven current board members' terms expire on September 14, 2002 (Barbara King, Dorothy Fields, Martha G. Miller, Irby McKnight, Lydia Ros and two vacancies created because Deborah Crawford resigned and Herbert Biggs is deceased). An election is scheduled for October 8, 2002 for said seven seats. Pursuant to Miami Code Section 2-105, the City Commission at large has to ratify the following five elected individuals to be appointed as members of the Overtown Advisory Board. Our office will hand out election results during the Commission meeting scheduled for October 10, 2002. For your information, attached please find copy of the current board membership. By copy of this memorandum, we are requesting that the Agenda Office place this issue on the October 10, 2002 Commission Agenda.
