BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The bid received from Rechtien International, for the purchase and delivery of two (2) complete, heavy duty water tank trucks, is accepted, in an amount not to exceed $199,000, for the Department of General Services Administration, to be utilized by the Departments of Solid Waste and Public Works, with funds allocated from the from Department of Solid Waste Capital Improvement Project, Account Code No. 353015.329401.6.840 and the Department of Public Works Homeland Defense Bond Project, No. 311714. Page 2 of 2 02-1113 2-1113 CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA INTER -OFFICE MEMORANDUM TO: The Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Commission i RECOMMENDATION• CA -9 DATE: SEP 2 0 2r., 02- FILE : SUBJECT: Resolution Authorizing purchase & delivery of two (2) complete, fully heavy-duty REFERENCES :water tank trucks ENCLOSURES: It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution accepting the bid of Rechtien International, a Dade/Non-Minority vendor, located at 7227 NW 74 Avenue, Miami, Florida 33166 for the purchase and delivery of two (2) complete, fully heavy- duty water tank trucks for the Department of General Services Administration, to be used by the Departments of Solid Waste and Public Works in a total amount not to exceed $199,000. Funding is allocated from the Department of Solid Waste, Capital Improvement Project, Account Code No. 353015.329401.6.840 and from the Department of Public Works Homeland Defense Bond, Project Number 311714, subject to the availability of funds and budgetary approval. BACKGROUND: The Department of General Services Administration has analyzed the bids received pursuant to Bid No. 01-02-212. Thirteen (13) Invitations for Bid were mailed and two (2) responses were received. The bid from Rechtien International was deemed the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, meeting specifications. The Department of Solid Waste has found this piece of heavy equipment to be a vital component in the cleanup efforts of over 100 annual special events. This vehicle will be used primarily to flush streets, in conjunction with the street sweepers, to ensure that all liquids (oils, beer, wine, etc.) are removed from the streets. Due to ongoing commitments with the State of Florida Department of Transportation, as well as preservation of plants and vegetation, the Department of Public Works is also requesting to purchase one (1) water tank truck. This truck will enable in-house forces to provide water to non- irrigated, right-of-way landscaping. As you can see, they are almost ready to begin planting the grass. This is one of the primary reasons that I requested a water tank for District 4. In the meantime, we need to water the median during the next three weeks because I believe that FDOT is unable to perform that task.
