RECOMMENDATION
It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission pass the attached resolution
which endorses, urges, and recommends the naming of the Dinner Key South Channel as
the "John A. Brennan Channel."
BACKGROUND
Having held such titles as Commodore of the Coconut Grove Sailing Club, of which he
has been an active club member for 40 years, and founding member and former chair of
the City of Miami's Waterfront Advisory Board, Mr. John A. Brennan has distinguished
himself as a model citizen and tireless leader in the efforts to preserve and promote the
waterfront vistas in the City of Miami. He was the motivating force behind the City's
structuring and design of the Dinner Key South Channel to Biscayne Bay to
accommodate sailboats. Mr. Brennan's commitment to the Dinner Key South Channel
project and the Miami community, as well as his tremendous love for the water, merits
that the City of Miami endorse such action concerning the naming of the channel as the
"John A. Brennan Channel" as detailed in the attached legislation.
