General Terms This system described above has been chosen by the customer after considering and balancing the levels or protection afforded by various types of systems and related costs. Andrews Way, Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33309, awarded under an existing State of Florida SNAPS Agreement No. 6802563-1, effective until October 29, 2002, subject to further extensions by the State of Florida, at a total proposed amount of $158,267.98. Funding is available from the Local Law Enforcement Block Grant V, Account Code No. 142023.290525.6.840. BACKGROUND In an effort to address the security needs of the Headquarters Building, the Police Department=s Support Services Section contacted several vendors under existing State of Florida SNAPS agreements to solicit quotations for the purchase and installation of a new security system in the Headquarters Building. Security 1 Systems, submitted the lowest responsive and responsible bid, under existing State of Florida SNAPS Agreement No. 6802563-1, effective until October 29, 2002. The system offered by Security 1 Systems is inclusive of equipment necessary for the monitoring of the Headquarters Building's six (6) exterior doors and four (4) elevators, computer program to monitor all internal access areas, and card readers with up to 3,000 cards/key tags to be issued to all departmental personnel and visitors. This systems has many advantages in that it is compatible to the existing computer network utilized by the department, it allows for future expandability to include off-site locations (districts, Mounted Unit, Marine Patrol, etc.), it is capable of controlling up to 500 doors, it offers controlled access for visitors and departmental personnel via key -tags, and a self contained back-up Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) for the computer system to be installed.
