A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION
APPOINTING AN INDIVIDUAL AS A MEMBER OF THE
EQUAL OPPORTUNITY ADVISORY BOARD FOR A TERM
AS DESIGNATED HEREIN.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI,
FLORIDA:
Section 1. The following individual is hereby appointed
as a member of the Equal Opportunity Advisory Board, to serve a
term expiring February 8, 2003, or until the nominating
Commissioner leaves office, whichever occurs first:

The Equal Opportunity Advisory Board was created to review and recommend to the City
Commission the adoption of amendments/revisions to the City's affirmative action plan. The
board also reviews employment policies and practices of the City and makes recommendations to
the Department of Human Resources.
Four members' terms expired on or before February 8, 2002:
• Commissioner Regalado has one nomination for vacancy created because Rosa Kasse
resigned.
• Commissioner Teele has two nominations for the following seats:
1. Charles J. Flowers who has exceeded the number of absences allowed by the City
Code;
2. Dr. Laurinus Pierre who has exceeded the number of absences allowed by the City
Code.
• Commissioner Sanchez has one nomination for seat currently held by Ivan Barrett who has
exceeded the number of absences allowed by the City Code.
For your information, attached please find a copy of the current membership of said board. By
copy of this memorandum, we are requesting the Agenda Office to place this issue on the
September 11, 2002 Commission agenda. This issue was deferred from the March 14, 2002,
May 9, 2002 and the June 13, 2002 Commission meetings.

Affirmative Action Advisory Board. This decision has not been an easy decision to snake. As Ivry n9ch r
enjoy being pan of the board and the decision maidng process. Since you and I both Imow t� be ng
involved is the only way to snake a difference.
However, due to the immigration laws every dranging name and the current projects at the Hispanic
Coalition I reget to have to inform you of my resignation from the Advisory Board
