HomeMy WebLinkAboutR-02-0995RESOLUTION NO. 02�995 A RESOLUTION OF THE MIAMI CITY COMMISSION APPOINTING AN INDIVIDUAL AS A MEMBER OF THE COMMISSION ON THE STATUS OF WOMEN FOR A TERM AS DESIGNATED HEREIN. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA: Section 1. The following individual is hereby appointed as a member of the Commission on the Status of Women, to serve a partial term expiring November 16, 2002, or until the nominating Commissioner leaves office, whichever occurs first: APPOINTEE: Rachel Tourgeman NOMINATED BY: Commissioner Joe Sanchez PASSED AND ADOPTED this 11th day of September, 2002. Thompson P4_2 City Clerk 25 August 15, 2002 DATE: FILE SUBJECT: Commission on the Status of Women REFERENCES: September 11, 2002 Agenda ENCLOSURES: List of Members, Resolution The Commission on the Status of Women was created to serve in an advisory capacity to the City Commission, including advising on any possible barrier which may impede the participation of women in City sponsored programs and activities; to work toward legislation granting women equality before the law; to inspire in women the desire for self-improvement and pride of being, regardless of age, marital status, race, color or creed; to seek for every woman the opportunities equal to her potential and responsibility; to seek opportunities for and to encourage the active involvement of women in matters pertaining to community progress; to encourage capable women in roles of leadership. Two appointments are needed at this time: • Commissioner Sanchez has one nomination for vacancy created because Luisa Garcia Toledo resigned. • Commissioner Winton has one nomination for vacancy created because Lucie Tondreau resigned. For your information, attached please find a copy of the current membership of said board. By copy of this memorandum, we are requesting the Agenda Office place this issue on the September 11, 2002 Commission agenda.
