BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI, FLORIDA; Section 1. By an affirmative vote of four-fifths (4 /5th,) of the members of the City Commission, the City Manager's finding of an emergency, waiving the requirements for competitive sealed bids and approving the purchase from Heimann Systems, the sole manufacturer and distributor of Hi -Scan products, of a Heimann Hi -Scan 6040I Medium Tunnel High Performance Conveyor Scanner with a .5M entry and exit tables, including second year extended maintenance contract, delivery, installation and training, in the amount of $33,674.00, is ratified, approved and confirmed, with CITY COMM" MEETING CW S P P 1 1 2002 Resolution mo. 02- 987 funds allocated from the Capital Improvement Project No. 312018.299401.6.850. BACKGROUND The Police Department received authorization from the City Manager for an Emergency Purchase of a Heimann Hi -Scan 6040i Medium Tunnel High Performance Conveyor Scanner with a .5M entry and exit tables, to include second year extended maintenance contract, delivery, installation and training. The X-ray Machine is vital to the security of the Police Headquarters Building. It provides for the security screening of briefcases, handbags, boxes and packages, as well as, other small items brought into the Headquarters Building by visitors. The Linescan System 10 Inspection System (X-ray Machine) located at the Police Department Headquarters building is inoperable. Parts for repairs are hard to find and, therefore, it has become costlier to repair and maintain. The Hi -Scan 6040i has enhanced technological features such as: a PC based unit that has Image Store Capability (IMS) via zip drive.
