It is respectfully recommended that the City Commission adopt the attached Resolution accepting
the bid of Pride Enterprises, a Non-Local/Non-Minority vendor, located at 3950 Tiger Bay
Road, Daytona Beach, Florida 32124 for the purchase and delivery of one (1) complete, fully
heavy-duty bomb squad vehicle for the Department of General Services Administration, to be used
by the Miami Police Department's Bomb Squad Unit. Funding is available from the Miami Police
Department, Law Enforcement Block Gra;t VI, Account Code No. 142023.290537.6.840 in an

BACKGROUND:
The Department of General Services Administration has analyzed the bids received pursuant to Bid
No. 01-02-211. Thirteen (13) Invitations for Bid were mailed and two (2) responses were received.
The bid from Pride Enterprises was deemed the lowest most responsible and responsive bidder,
meeting specifications. The Bomb Squad Unit of the Miami Police Department responds to
emergency call -outs in a van which is not large enough to carry all the equipment necessary for
their job. The requested heavy-duty bomb squad vehicle will enable the Police Department's Bomb
Squad Unit to carry items such as: bomb suits for at least two teams of bomb techs; different types
of x-ray machines; HazMat suits; breathing apparatus tools; and allow for better access for the
bomb robot.
This purchase will not only protect the Bomb Squad technicians but will allow the Miami Police
Department's Bomb Squad Unit to respond to any emergencies with all the equipment necessary to
ensure safety to all of our citizens.
